The Itinerary of Fez to Middle Atlas Tour
Fez, the cultural capital of Morocco, is a city steeped in history and tradition. It is located at the foot of the Middle Atlas mountain range and serves as a gateway to some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country.
Pick up at 09h00 in the morning from your hotel or residence accommodation by our professional multilingual driver, including English. As you leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind and venture into the Middle Atlas mountains, you’ll find yourself in a world of stunning natural beauty. The first stop on your journey should be the town of Sefrou. This charming town is known for its fruit trees and has a fascinating history dating back to Roman times, a city renowned for its waterfalls and unusual earth formations. Safrou 28 km from Fès the city is known for its Cherry Festival, also known as the Cherry Festival or Moussem Hab Al-Moulouk at the foot of the Middle Atlas. It is crossed by a river, there is a waterfall within the city, which is one of the many springs and waterfalls in the province.
Admire the sanctuary of Sidi-Ali Bousserghine. Explore the city, and discover its architecture, religious influences, and history.
Take a little freshness under the luxuriant vegetation of the Aggaï wadi Savor lunch in a restaurant of Séfrou, before taking the climbing road in a region of olive trees.
From Sefrou, you can continue your journey to the village of Bhalilb. This picturesque village is famous for its cave dwellings, which have been inhabited for centuries. It’s a great place to experience traditional Moroccan life and culture. Explore Bhalil and the famous cave paintings, revealing the history of the region. Bhalil, 24 km south of Fez in Morocco, this village nestled on the mountainside offers its white houses a very picturesque aspect. In Bhalil, the inhabitants have kept a very traditional way of life.
Then visit a local family, enjoy a mint tea, and learn about the daily life of the locals.
As you continue your journey into the mountains, you’ll come across the town of Imouzzer. This town is known for its natural hot springs and is a popular destination for those seeking a relaxing spa experience. It’s also a great place to try some traditional Moroccan cuisine, such as tagine or couscous.
Next on your itinerary should be the town of Ifrane. This town is often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine architecture and snow-capped mountains. Further along the way, you’ll come across the town of Azrou. This town is known for its beautiful cedar forests and is home to the famous Barbary macaque monkeys. You can take a hike through the forest and watch these playful creatures in their natural habitat.
During this day trip, you will also discover Azrou, a Berber village built at 1250 m altitude and home to Berber tribes houses, first inhabitants of Morocco. Look at Berber men with their flocks, grinding flour, exercising their trades, especially tapestry and carpentry. If you are interested, we will visit a cooperative run by women who wave Berber carpets to discover the secrets of these beautiful carpets of atlases.
A little further away is the best preserved cedar forest in Morocco, where you can see Barbary monkeys jumping; you can give them peanuts and take pictures. Along the cedar forest trail, you can even see the gray swirls of the Atlas or wild boar.
Last but not least, you should visit the town of Midelt. This town is located at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains and is known for its stunning landscapes and unique rock formations. It’s a great place to go on a hike or take a scenic drive through the mountains.
